Low-Dose CT Lung Screening for Current and Former Smokers
A yearly low-dose CT finds lung cancer at an early, treatable stage, before symptoms. The scan takes a few minutes, needs no contrast and no preparation.

“I was able to walk right in and get an MRI within 30 minutes.”
“I got in the same day I called… I received written results the next day. The cost was more than reasonable.”
What the screening involves
A single low-dose chest CT, read by a board-certified radiologist, with a clear next step.
Low-dose chest CT
About one fifth of the radiation of a standard chest CT. You lie on the table, hold your breath for a few seconds, and you are done.
Lung-RADS report
Your results use the national Lung-RADS system, so you and your doctor know exactly what was found and when to screen again.
Results in 72 hours
The report goes to you and to your doctor. If a follow-up scan is needed, we help schedule it.
Who qualifies
- ✓Age 50 to 80
- ✓Smoked the equivalent of a pack a day for 20 years (or two packs for 10)
- ✓Currently smoke, or quit within the last 15 years
- ✓No symptoms of lung cancer
These are the US Preventive Services Task Force criteria that insurance and Medicare use for yearly coverage. If you don't meet them but want the scan, the $150 self-pay option is available.
Why it matters
Early-stage lung cancer is highly treatable
Screening with low-dose CT lowers lung cancer deaths by about 20% in people at high risk, because it finds cancers while they are still small.
Request screening →Questions patients ask
Will my insurance cover it?▾
Most plans and Medicare cover one low-dose CT per year for people who meet the age and smoking criteria, with a physician order. Our team can check your coverage. Self-pay is $150 with no referral.
Do I need to prepare?▾
No fasting and no contrast. Wear a top without metal. If you have a cold with a cough, it is fine to reschedule.
What if something is found?▾
Most findings are small nodules that only need a repeat scan in 6 or 12 months. Your report says exactly what to do next, and we send it to your doctor.
How often should I screen?▾
Once a year, as long as you meet the criteria and are healthy enough to benefit from treatment.
