NeuroQuant Brain MRI — AI Volumetric Analysis for Memory & Brain Health
NeuroQuant is FDA-cleared AI software that automatically measures the volume of every major brain structure on a standard MRI — and compares it to age- and sex-matched norms. It detects abnormal atrophy patterns linked to Alzheimer's, dementia, MS, and TBI long before they're visible to the eye alone.
What Is a NeuroQuant Brain MRI?
NeuroQuant is an FDA-cleared AI platform from Cortechs.ai that performs automated volumetric analysis of a standard non-contrast brain MRI. After the scan is acquired, the software segments and measures the volume of dozens of brain structures — including the hippocampus, amygdala, ventricles, cortex, and white matter — and compares each value against a normative reference database matched to your age and sex. The output is a quantitative report showing exactly where your brain volume falls in a population percentile, and which structures show abnormal atrophy patterns associated with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and other neurodegenerative conditions. This is fundamentally different from a traditional radiologist read, which is qualitative and depends on subjective visual assessment. NeuroQuant adds objective, reproducible numbers — the same kind of quantitative tracking neurologists and academic memory centers rely on.
What Can NeuroQuant Brain MRI Diagnose?
- Patterns of brain atrophy consistent with Alzheimer's disease
- Hippocampal volume loss (a key early Alzheimer's marker)
- Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) — early decline before dementia
- Multiple sclerosis lesion burden and brain volume changes
- Traumatic brain injury and post-concussive volume changes
- Frontotemporal dementia and other neurodegenerative patterns
- Age-related brain volume changes vs. normal aging
- Baseline brain volume measurement for future comparison
How to Prepare for Your NeuroQuant Brain MRI
- 1No fasting required — eat and take medications normally
- 2Wear comfortable clothing without metal
- 3Remove all jewelry, hair clips, and piercings
- 4Tell us about any implants, pacemakers, or surgical hardware
- 5Bring any prior brain MRIs (CDs or USB) for comparison
- 6Bring a physician's order — NeuroQuant requires a referral
- 7Plan for about 60 minutes on-site
What to Expect During Your NeuroQuant Brain MRI
Intake & Safety Screening
You complete an MRI safety questionnaire. Our technologist reviews your history and any prior brain imaging.
Brain MRI Acquisition
You lie on the MRI table for a standard non-contrast brain MRI — 30–45 minutes. NeuroQuant requires a high-resolution 3D T1 sequence, which we acquire as part of the standard protocol.
Automated AI Volumetric Analysis
Your images are sent to the NeuroQuant cloud platform, which automatically segments every major brain structure and calculates its volume. No additional scan time required.
Quantitative Report Generated
NeuroQuant produces a structured report showing each brain structure's volume, its percentile vs. age- and sex-matched norms, and any patterns flagged as abnormal — including hippocampal occupancy score for memory disease.
Radiologist Review & Delivery
A board-certified radiologist interprets the MRI and integrates the NeuroQuant report with the visual findings. The combined report is sent to your physician — typically your neurologist — within 48 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
NeuroQuant is an FDA-cleared AI platform that automatically measures the volume of dozens of brain structures from a standard MRI — including hippocampus, amygdala, ventricles, cortex, white matter, and more. It compares each value to a large normative database matched to your age and sex, then flags structures with abnormally low volume (atrophy) or abnormally high volume (such as enlarged ventricles).
Not by itself. NeuroQuant is a clinical decision-support tool. It identifies patterns of brain volume loss consistent with Alzheimer's — most importantly, hippocampal atrophy — but a definitive Alzheimer's diagnosis requires a neurologist to integrate the imaging with cognitive testing, blood biomarkers, family history, and clinical exam. NeuroQuant gives the neurologist objective numbers to work with rather than a subjective 'looks atrophic' impression.
A regular brain MRI is read qualitatively — the radiologist looks at the images and describes what they see in words. NeuroQuant adds quantitative volume measurements with reference percentiles, similar to how a CBC blood test reports numbers compared to normal ranges. The two reads are complementary: structural findings (tumors, strokes, MS lesions) come from the radiologist read, while subtle volume changes come from NeuroQuant.
Adults with subjective memory complaints, mild cognitive impairment, family history of Alzheimer's or dementia, post-concussion or traumatic brain injury follow-up, multiple sclerosis monitoring, or those whose neurologist has recommended volumetric brain analysis. It's also useful as a baseline scan in your 50s or 60s to compare against future scans as you age.
No. NeuroQuant runs on a standard non-contrast brain MRI sequence (3D T1). No IV, no gadolinium contrast — and no radiation, since MRI uses magnets and radio waves.
The brain MRI itself takes 30–45 minutes — the same as a standard brain MRI. The NeuroQuant AI analysis is processed automatically in the cloud after image acquisition; it does not add scan time. Total visit is typically about an hour.
The brain MRI itself is often covered when medically indicated (memory complaints, MS, TBI, etc.). NeuroQuant analysis may be billed as a separate add-on or covered as part of the read, depending on your plan. Self-pay pricing is available — call (727) 398-5999 for current rates.
Yes — a physician order for a brain MRI with volumetric analysis is required. Your neurologist or primary care doctor can place the order. We can help coordinate if you need a recommendation. See the dedicated booking page below for details.
